Today's Expositor's Quote comes from a sermon by Charles Spurgeon on Malachi 1:1, "The Burden of the Word of the Lord:"

You cannot preach conviction of sin unless you have suffered it. You cannot preach repentence unless you have practiced it. You cannot preach faith unless you have exercised it. True preaching is artesian; it wells up from the great depths of the soul. If Christ has not made a well within us, there will be no outflow from us.

Charles Spurgeon, Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 35, p. 615, as cited in Tom Carter's compilation of 2200 Quotations from the Writings of Charles Spurgeon, Baker Books, 1988.

[Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you face trials of various kinds -- for Christ is digging that well within you. May your preaching be artesian this week! Coty]
